About Volunteering at Straight StreetQ: What is the mission and purpose of Straight Street?
A: The mission and purpose of Straight Street is to provide a Christian environment where 11-18 year-old at-risk youth can obtain the necessary skills and training needed in order to mature and discover God’s divine plan for their lives. Straight Street is an outreach ministry to help the teens in the areas of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs. We provide food, clothing, hygiene products, counseling, help with schoolwork, and assistance in emergency situations. Our goal is to fulfill the needs of these at-risk teens so we can minister to them while telling them about God’s divine plan.
Q: What is Straight Street about and what do we do?
A: Straight Street is an outreach ministry to help teens in the areas of physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual needs. Q: What are the requirements for me to volunteer?
A: As a volunteer, you should be a born again Christian, attend a local church, fill out a volunteer questionnaire and criminal background check, and go through a “Child Abuse Prevention” video training. Please visit our Volunteer page to learn more.
Q: What exactly is my responsibility as an adult volunteer at Straight Street?
A: We pray for volunteers that feel they are called by God to serve here. We ask for a willingness and heart to help minister to these children/youth that need to see and feel God’s love.
